Thinking back to before I became plant-based, I never truly enjoyed philly cheesesteaks as much as I now enjoy vegan philly's. The flavors of this recipe are truly so delicious, it's a must try.
You need:
Avocado oil
1 small yellow onion
1 bell pepper
1 box seitan
4 cloves of garlic
1 jalapeno
1/4 cup Coconut aminos
Smoked gouda cheez (I used Follow Your Heart)
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (omit if you don’t want spicy)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp mushroom umami
Nutritional yeast
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 Baguettes
Lettuce
1. Slice the onion, pepper, and jalapeño, and chop the garlic.
2. Cut the seitan as I did in the video. In a pan, heat up some avocado oil and throw the veggies and cook for a couple of minutes on low heat.
3. Add in the seitan with all of the spices (save nutritional yeast for last) and coconut aminos. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
4. Preheat the oven to 350 f. When the seitan is done, place in your baguette of choice with gouda cheez and let it bake until the cheese starts to melt.
This recipe makes 2-4 servings.
When the Philly is done, top with greens of your choice and enjoy!!
